Paul is a financial services regulatory specialist with over 15 years' experience. He has a wealth of experience, both in private practice and in-house. As a regulatory lawyer, Paul has gained experience in relation to corporate finance, funds, commercial and compliance matters as they relate to financial institutions. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, he worked as a regulator at the Financial Conduct Authority and one of its predecessors, the Personal Investment Authority.
Since qualifying as a solicitor, Paul has worked in the Financial Services Regulatory Team at Addleshaw Goddard, followed by an in-house compliance role on the global markets desk at Standard Bank. Paul then returned to private practice with Rosenblatt Solicitors where Paul headed up the firm's Financial Services Regulatory practice. A further stint in-house followed when Paul worked in the Financial Services Legal team at Barclays Wealth, before moving on to international law firm Eversheds and national law firm Shoosmiths.
Paul joined Avery Law in 2016.
Financial Services and Market Act 2000, its subordinate legislation and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Rules; Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, the revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive); compliance with anti-money laundering legislation; PRA and FCA authorisation processes; FCA compliant distribution and outsourcing agreements; regulatory aspects of M&A transactions involving financial institutions; terms of business that comply with FCA Rules (in particular, Treating Customers Fairly) and consumer protection legislation; financial promotions; e-money and e-commerce regulations on a client’s business.
